An 86-year-old woman was given the surprise of her life after she was quoted an eye-watering £3,000 for a garden tidy up job.

It can be tricky for people of a certain age to keep on top of all the things needed to keep their gardens looking top notch. And with prices for pretty much everything on the rise, getting a professional in to help can be extremely expensive.

A pensioner in Manchester recently sought professional help with her back garden, which had overgrown grass and weeds that desperately needed trimmed.

The woman told the man behind the Garden Yardz Mowing account on TikTok she was quoted £3,000 for the job. And she simply didn’t want to pay such an extortionate amount.

In one of his recent videos, which has been viewed more than 54,000 times, Garden Yardz Mowing gave the woman the surprise of her life, and saved her from forking out a hefty fee.

He explained on the video: “86-year-old lady quoted £3,000 for her garden – so I did it for free!”

The footage shows Garden Yardz Mowing taking his handy strimmer to the grass and weeds, cutting around bushes the woman has previously planted. Once the grass and weeds are all levelled out, he then goes over it all again with a lawn mower – ensuring the job is done to perfection.

Garden Yardz Mowing also trimmed the woman’s plants and bushes, and her garden looked transformed at the end of the video.

Hundreds of people have liked the heart-warming video, thanking Garden Yardz Mowing for his act of kindness. Others were left stunned at just how much the pensioner was quoted in the first place.

One comment read: “So glad you did it for free because that is definitely NOT worth £3,000.” A second said: “Me and a old mate would charge £50 for that.” And a third said: “I’d do [it for] like 100 quid me and my mate would half.”
